Summery cocktails

Sunday, 19 July, 2020, 11:38 AM

Well, it ain't summer of you're not making some cocktails right?
Okay, the cocktails may not define the seasons, but there is a difference in what kind of drinks and cocktails I make throughout the year. I mean, not really in the mood for mulled wine in during the summers, and not really craving that ice-cold Bellini during the cold winter nighs, right? At least that's the way I feel. During the summers I tend to make fresh, light, and fruity cocktails and a lot of different sangrias, so I thought I would share some of them with you and hopefully get you inspired.

1. Apple sour with a twist

- Apple Sour
- White rum
- Soda
- Lemongrass
- Ice

2. Piggelin:

- Pear Popsicle
- 7-up
- Vodka

This is a Swedish cocktail, you put the popsicle in the drink for flavor and ice, super-tasty!

3. Pink Elderflower

- Elderflower liqueur
- Pink Grapefruit Juice
- Rum
- Ice

4. Red Wine Sangria with watermelon and raspberries

- A simple red wine
- Peachtree
- Juice with raspberries and watermelon
- Sprite
- Ice
- Oranges for decorations
(and hey, do you see the lurking tiger in the background, that's my baby, Ernst)

5. Pink Passion

- Add lots of ice
- Passoa passion fruit liqueur
- a splash of vodka
- top it up with 7-up
- Cherries as decoration

This is a super-fresh and simple cocktail to make. And yes, there is a sleeping cat in the background, it's Eddie. That kind of seems to be a thing right nog, don't it? The cats are photobombing us.

There you have it, five summery cocktails that you could easily make at home. And one thing I do recommend when you are making your special drink, make sure to give it some extra time for the decorations. Don't be afraid to go overboard, just go all in and make it as festive as possible. Make it pretty!

Sweden - Trosa

Ågården

Thursday, 16 July, 2020, 5:18 AM

As we were planning our trip to Trosa in Sweden, we came across this cute place called Ågården. It's a historic building with a courtyard center, with a bar, outdoor dining area, spa-bath, and a fully furnished greenhouse where you can have your outdoor meals indoors. And the best part, its located right by the canal.

All the rooms are entered directly from the courtyard, so as you wake up in the morning, you'll have the most amazing view. The double room that I and the husband stayed in had a small bedroom with a queen-sized bed, a bathroom with shower, and a small loungearea with wicker chairs. And a closet big enough to hold two people, as you can see in the image.

Our friend Hanna stayed in the next-door room, which was a single room with a single bed in kind of a smaller alcove. Supercute. Her room of course had its bathroom with a shower.

All rooms come with breakfast included. Needless to say, it was a great start of the day, to sit in the garden overlooking the canal and the riverwalk. And as I have mentioned before, it's okay to bring your dog along for the trip, it will set you back 25 euros for your entire stay. The dog can't come with you into the restaurant's indoor sitting areas, but its welcome to the outdoor areas.

To be honest, we did not explore the kitchen at Ågården, which of course we should have. But since we were only there for the weekend we wanted to explore the surrounding areas too, and that meant not having dinner at our weekend home. But we did try a lot of their drinks and cocktails, and I have said it before - I know, their Aperol Spritz was the best one I had all weekend.

If you are heading to Trosa, I would strongly recommend that you consider staying at Ågården. We are actually talking about going back really soon, maybe during the autumn, just as the leaves are about to change. Imagine sitting the out-door hot-spa bath, overlooking the canals, when the air is crispy cold. I can't wait!

4 tips for great cocktails in Trosa

Wednesday, 8 July, 2020, 5:06 AM

Oh yes, this was the guide you have all been waiting for huh?

Mhm, we may have had some cocktails, drinks, and wine on our trip, so I thought I would share some of my experiences with you. On where to go for live music and shots, the coziest place and the best Spritz. I am not going to add the address of the restaurants and bars, your all going to use GoogleMaps anyways so the names will do just fine, right?

Appel cider, Mojito and a glas of wine @ Fina Fisken.

Fina fisken

This was on the more fancy side with a somewhat younger crowd, but even though it's not regularly my first choice of place, I loved sitting there during the late evening when their garden was all lit up with candles and string lights. They had a good assortment of beers and ciders and a good variety of cocktails, and I was especially impressed by the fact that they had a Swedish dry-cider that I had not tried before, I like that!

Sour Cocktails and Hotshots @ Trosa Sjökrog.

Trosa Sjökrog

This was such a friendly place to visit, all of the staff that we encountered were really cheerful and friendly. They had some great sour cocktails, a good assortment of shots, and live music that you could hear from the streets. That's definitely a plus in book, music always draws me in. We ended up going back two days in a row, so I don't really have to tell you how much we appreciated this place, do I?

Jacob with a Moscow Mule, Hanna with a glass of wine, and me with an Aperol Spritz @ Bohamans.

Bohmans Hotel

To be completely honest, I loved sitting in their gardens having a cocktail, it was a beautiful place, but I have had a better Aperol Sprits. They did however have quite a lot of different places to sit at, all of them far from each other. And I do like their way of serving drinks though, they always served us beautiful cocktails.

They gain an extra plus too, for getting dog blankets and water bowls whenever they had guests that brought in their furry friends.

Coffee drinks, Aperol Spritz and a Gin and Tonic @ Ågården.

Ågården

Yeah, this was the place we stayed at during our weekend in Trosa, and I have to tell you this, they are not only a great hotel - they have by far the best Aperol Spritz. And don't even get me started on their coffee drinks, they were amazing! Sitting in their garden and having a drink, while watching all the people strolling along the canal, the boats that go by, it's such a calming way to have a drink.

If you're lucky, you'll be there on one of the nights that they have live music playing in their gardens. They did not have that when we visited but I saw on their social media that that's a recurrent thing, so maybe you'll get lucky and be there on just the right day.

I really hope that our recommendations will give you some pointers on where to go to find that magical summer cocktail whilst you are in Trosa, Sweden. Make sure to give us a shoutout if we have missed your favorite place, we will definitely be going back, we have already started checking out dates for our next return.

There are a few more recommendations coming up from our trip to Trosa, the beautiful seaport in Sweden, so stay tuned!
