Top 5 travel destinations

Sunday, 7 February, 2021, 8:43 AM

We've been challenged by Rejse Guide af Guld to tell you about our Top 5 travel destinations, I am going to start by telling you that picking five of the trips we have done over the years - that's not an easy task, but I will try my best.

There are so many different reasons to why a trip could have easely been the best, but it's not about the trip itself, but about the desination so I have tried to stick to the destinations that have kind stuck with me after visitng and that I would really like to re-visit for some specific reason.

EDINBURGH

Does this come as a chock to anyone?
I love Edinburgh, so out of all the places I have ever visited, Edinburgh wins by a long shot. There's just something special about this place, the vibes, the feelings, the sounds and the greyish color. I'm team Edinburgh all the way!
We have been to Edinburgh during late autumn and mid-summer, so I would love to see the spring or maybe even a New Years celebration. And yes, I would still like to visit Edinburgh during the Beltane festival that have been trying to get to the last couple of years, as you might know, I have had trips booked for that specific weekend twice but both times has been cancelled. Well, I would go back in a heartbeat if I could!

BUDAPEST

It's such a great city with so many different places and buildings to see and visit, I loved walking around in the city and justsoaking in the atmosphere. Even though we saw quite a lot of the buildings when we had our weekend in Budapest due to the boattrip on the river Danube, I would love to go back and explore some more of the classic touristplaces, like the thermal baths. And that would be supercool to do during the winter.

DUBLIN

We spent a New Years weekend in Dublin a fews back with a bunch of our closest friends and I loved the city. But I would really like to see it during a different season, prefrebly during the late spring I think, just to see the city in full bloom and maybe have a pint on an area of outdoor seating. And there's still one thing left for me to do in Dublin, and that's to see the Book of Kells that's located at trinity University. The book is always there, but the one time I come to see it - it's not, so the next time I'll be there the book better bee there to!

RHODES

Yeah, the Greek island Rhodes is one of my favorites for all the obvious reasons, the beach and the great food for sure. But as you are all aware, I am a bit of a history geek and the island of Rhodes gave me so much in that department. I would love to go back and just visit more historical places around the island.

GOTLAND

For a few years in a row we visited the Swedish island Gotland every summer, and it's just a great place to spend your summervacations. I have visited the island during the winter aswell, and it's pretty for sure, but it's nothing like the summers.

I know it's superhard to pick just five, but if you try really hard... what's your Top 5?

Greek dinner

Monday, 27 April, 2020, 4:49 AM

So if you can't travel to Greece right now, Greece will just have to come to us. And what better way to make that happened than to cook yourself a greek dinner. Travel inspired dinners coming up, and we are even thinking of making this a series of blog posts, so please let us know if this kind of post would interest you!

Just go all-in with music, foods, and beer. And take your time to set the table, make it into a party! But if you are at home, don't go throwing those plates around - that makes quite a mess. Did I tell you that we did that throwing plates thing when we visited Athens for new years?

So we made tzatziki with extra garlic, greek salad with feta cheese and red onions, garlic bread, olives filled with garlic, grilled goat cheese with roasted garlic. Yes, a lot of garlic. Meat souvlaki and some french fries. The entire kitchen smelled of garlic for a few days...

And just to add some flavor we topped the dinner off with a greek beer called Mythos and of course some Ouzo on the side. And greek music to set the mood.

Heres how you do it... add about eight skewers in water for ten minutes before its time to use them. Polish the meat and cut them into smaller pieces.

Divide the meat onto the skewers. Mix olive oil, lemon juice, pressed garlic, rosemary, and black pepper into a marinade. Add the marinade on the skewers and leave in the fridge for a few hours. Of course, we used the outdoor grill to cook the meat, nothing but a barbeque will due when you're cooking greek foods right?
And to be completely honest, the husband would not have had it any other way, there's just something about men and the outdoor grill... don't get me wrong, I am not complaining or anything, I love grilled foods just like the next one, but am I right or what?

Out of all the times that I have been to Greece I have never found myself disliking the food. On the contrary, whether I have found myself on the mainland in Athens or on a small island like Samos, Rhodes, or Crete, I have always enjoyed the food. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I am guessing it all has to do with the environment as well, I mean, the food always tastes better when its served in that special place right?

So okay, it may have something to do with the seasoning as well... oregano, garlic, onion, dill, parsley, marjoram and thyme, the dried herbs and spices that they use around the Mediterranean is just something different. It's not we don't have that kind of spices at home, and we use it for sure, but it never quite tastes the same as it does in Greece. It does not matter if you use basil, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and pepper at home to make that perfect cuisine if you cant add that special flavor of sunshine, love, and greek vibes at the end. I don't know if its the salt from the sea that does that little extra, but whatever it is, I have not found that big secret ingredients that they use to make their fantastic.

I am not saying that the food we made wasn't amazing, because it sure was. All I am saying that I would rather have tasted it in Greece, or better yet, been able to cook it in Greece.

I know that most people like Greek food, but what's your favorite?

Reselistan 2019 / Travellist 2019

Wednesday, 24 April, 2019, 4:46 AM

Found a travellist at Linas at seeing as that stuffs always fun, heres our answers. And as usual Angelicas answers are in swedish and Anns are in english. Enjoy the read!

Bästa resan? Best trip?

Thats a though one to answer, tripwise or destination? I think I would have to say Edinburgh, cuz it left me wanting for so much more. Not just wanting to see more of Edinbugh, but of entire Scotland.

Worst trip?

Sithonia, Greece. I know a lot of you love the place, but let me tell you, I was there 20 years ago with my mother and we had the worst trip of my enitre life. The kind of trip where you call in sick from work two weeks after the trip. Not kidding. Truly Horrible. I'll tell you about that trip some day...

Dyraste resan? Most expensive trip?

Özdere Turkey. The first time I did all inclusive at a fancy resort, and probobly the last time.

Thailand absolut!

Billigaste resan? Cheapest trip?

Budapest, Hungary. Cost next to nothing to travel there, we payed about 100 euro for the flight and the hotel. Amazing.

What she said :D

Roligaste resan? The most fun trip?

Samos, Greece. It was just one of those trips where you laughed from morning to sundown.

Mest spontana resan? Most spontanious trip?

Edinburgh, Scotland. We booked the trip entirely because I was disapointed over the fact that could go to Gotland for their Christmas weekend in medieval style.

Dreamdestination?

Oh... is that a trickquestion? New Orleans, Nashville, Marocco... can I only say one?

Oj! USA, Caribbien, Florida, har hundra till.

Bästa hotellet? Best hotel?

Oh hm, I really cant answer that. I only sleep at the hotels when I travel, so the hotels really doesnt matter. As long as its in the center of the city and affordable, I'm good.

Whats the first thing you pack?

Extra battery for my camera, it never leaves the bag. And then I keep running around looking for the charger, cuz that always leaves the bag. Buy an extra, I know riight.

What place would you rather go back to?

Havent I told you like time and time again, Scotland and Italy. To be honest it would be easier to tell you the few places that I've been to that I wouldnt want to go back to. Or atleast wouldnt want to go back to right now, for the moment.

Alla utan problem men nu vill jag se lite nytt.
