What are our plans for the summer?

As most people do right about now, we are starting to plan our summer. Don’t get me wrong, we had plans and we still have one more trip abroad left that has not been canceled yet, but we all know that will not be possible for us. So what are our plans for the summer?

Food travel

Hopefully, you have seen our Food Travel series that has taken us into quite a few different kitchens, which is super fun, so we will definitely continue that. We have some great ideas planned for the near future, so if you eat a few times a day and are in need of some inspiration for your menu, make sure to check back in.

Greek dinner, Italian kitchen and Indian food are some of the kitchens we have managed to try out during our food travels.

Explore the local scenery

Our next plan is to continue what we started last summer, explore our local surroundings. I was amazed by how much there actually is to do in our hometown that I have never taken the time to. Or maybe I have not been interested before, I think that’s cutting it closer to the truth. I want to find some great hidden spots on the beach, we live right next to the ocean so it should not be that hard. We did explore some of the bigger beaches around the area last year, the more popular places to go so to speak, but for this year I am excited to go exploring for some gems.

And I want to check out some of the local restaurants, we have tried some, but far from all so that’s definitely on my list for the summer. To be honest I have some really cute places that I have set my eyes on.

Exploring our local beaches at Torö Stenstrand, having a picnic on the beach and exploring the local foodscene.

Road Trips

Yes, we have talked about going on some road trips now that our government has lifted the travel ban within Sweden. At first, we were only able to travel within two hours of our homes, and I am saying this really lightly, I know there are a lot of different situations in the world. But now they have lifted our ban, so as long as we are healthy and keep the social distancing, we can travel within Sweden.

We booked our first trip within Sweden when the two-hour rule was still in place, so we have booked a weekend in a Trosa, which is a supercute small town along a canal. I am so excited to go there!

I do know that I want to see some more of the Swedish countrysides, but I haven’t quite figured out where I want to go yet. We’ve been to the island Gotland several times before, and that’s always a nice place to visit, so maybe… and the south of Sweden is filled with places that I haven’t heard of before, maybe we’ll just hop into the car and start driving and see where we end up. Just an aimless adventure, that sure would be something a little extra. Even writing it down, the control freak in me starts to scream. So maybe, maybe not. Food for thought though.

Self-care

If I am to be completely honest, self-care is something I am not spoiling myself with, so that’s a promise to my self this summer – do better. Facials, manicure, sunbathing, reading a good book, getting a haircut, and a bit of yoga. Come on now, I know some of you know me and you might be raising an eyebrow right about now … but, in my defense, I have been doing yoga for a few weeks now and I never thought I would say this, but I actually like it and it gives me the best feeling afterward. Imagine finding that cute little secluded are on a beach and starting the morning with a bit of yoga, that would be a good start, wouldn’t you say?

And, I would love to have a few cocktails during sunset, if that ain’t self-care, I don’t know what is!

Cocktails during sunset!

Traveling abroad

No, we’ll save that for when it’s safer for everyone. When the world lets us Swedes back in the game, and no offense taken – I totally understand that we’re seen as a bit of a risk, then I’ll be more than happy to travel again. If I was on the other side of the border I would feel the same way, so for this summer, we’ll stay right here. If the situation changes though… I’ll get back to you!

So what are your plans for the summer?
Let us know in the comment section below, I would love to hear what you are up to and what on the agenda for the summer of 2020.
