What are our plans for the summer?
As most people do right about now, we are starting to plan our summer. Don’t get me wrong, we had plans and we still have one more trip abroad left that has not been canceled yet, but we all know that will not be possible for us. So what are our plans for the summer?
Food travel
Hopefully, you have seen our Food Travel series that has taken us into quite a few different kitchens, which is super fun, so we will definitely continue that. We have some great ideas planned for the near future, so if you eat a few times a day and are in need of some inspiration for your menu, make sure to check back in.
Greek dinner, Italian kitchen and Indian food are some of the kitchens we have managed to try out during our food travels.
Explore the local scenery
Our next plan is to continue what we started last summer, explore our local surroundings. I was amazed by how much there actually is to do in our hometown that I have never taken the time to. Or maybe I have not been interested before, I think that’s cutting it closer to the truth. I want to find some great hidden spots on the beach, we live right next to the ocean so it should not be that hard. We did explore some of the bigger beaches around the area last year, the more popular places to go so to speak, but for this year I am excited to go exploring for some gems.
And I want to check out some of the local restaurants, we have tried some, but far from all so that’s definitely on my list for the summer. To be honest I have some really cute places that I have set my eyes on.
Exploring our local beaches at Torö Stenstrand, having a picnic on the beach and exploring the local foodscene.
Road Trips
Yes, we have talked about going on some road trips now that our government has lifted the travel ban within Sweden. At first, we were only able to travel within two hours of our homes, and I am saying this really lightly, I know there are a lot of different situations in the world. But now they have lifted our ban, so as long as we are healthy and keep the social distancing, we can travel within Sweden.
We booked our first trip within Sweden when the two-hour rule was still in place, so we have booked a weekend in a Trosa, which is a supercute small town along a canal. I am so excited to go there!
I do know that I want to see some more of the Swedish countrysides, but I haven’t quite figured out where I want to go yet. We’ve been to the island Gotland several times before, and that’s always a nice place to visit, so maybe… and the south of Sweden is filled with places that I haven’t heard of before, maybe we’ll just hop into the car and start driving and see where we end up. Just an aimless adventure, that sure would be something a little extra. Even writing it down, the control freak in me starts to scream. So maybe, maybe not. Food for thought though.
Self-care
If I am to be completely honest, self-care is something I am not spoiling myself with, so that’s a promise to my self this summer – do better. Facials, manicure, sunbathing, reading a good book, getting a haircut, and a bit of yoga. Come on now, I know some of you know me and you might be raising an eyebrow right about now … but, in my defense, I have been doing yoga for a few weeks now and I never thought I would say this, but I actually like it and it gives me the best feeling afterward. Imagine finding that cute little secluded are on a beach and starting the morning with a bit of yoga, that would be a good start, wouldn’t you say?
And, I would love to have a few cocktails during sunset, if that ain’t self-care, I don’t know what is!
Cocktails during sunset!
Traveling abroad
No, we’ll save that for when it’s safer for everyone. When the world lets us Swedes back in the game, and no offense taken – I totally understand that we’re seen as a bit of a risk, then I’ll be more than happy to travel again. If I was on the other side of the border I would feel the same way, so for this summer, we’ll stay right here. If the situation changes though… I’ll get back to you!
So what are your plans for the summer?
Let us know in the comment section below, I would love to hear what you are up to and what on the agenda for the summer of 2020.

Your plans sound really great, especially the food and self-care parts. We will do some traveling around our island instead of international trips, like always. There are so many beautiful places to discover here too.
Ashley
Your summer plans sound great! I lespecially ove the parts about food travel & self-care. I love eating, lol and when it comes to self-care I always make sure to take time for myself.

I love a good old road trip. You can explore so much by doing it.

It sounds like you’re ready to make up for lost time! I totally get that. I have big plans for the summer, as well.

I really want to do some traveling this summer when things open up more. I’m going to take precautions, but I do want to get out and about.

So many of us that like to explore other places are in the same boat while efforts are being made to combat COVID 19. Hopefully this terrible pandemic will be brought under control soon. In the meanwhile, I’m sure there would be so many beautiful places in Sweden for you to visit and enjoy.

We’ve had to cancel all of our plans this Summer. I don’t feel comfortable going out yet.

Ja det ska faktiskt bli jättespännande, bara det att utforska vad vi har för matställen runt om ska bli kul, bortsett från pizzerior 😃

Our summer looks like it will be very similar to yours! We will be taking in some local/state sites but no significant travel.

This seems like a good plan. Traveling locally is a good wait to come out interacting with the nature in these days. Enjoy!

rejseguideafguld
Ja du skal virkelig prøve at besøge Danmark!
Sue
I’m with you on that! I also have 1 more trip at the end of August which has yet to look like it will be cancelled but before that, even if we are allowed, I think I’ll stay close to home. I’m in the Uk so totally understand that we may not be fully welcomed by other countrie. I’m actually excited to get out & explore more of my homeland for a change…just hope for good weather.
Dreams Abroad
I am so happy with your summer plans. They make me want to plan something spectacular. I am going to keep it local tho.

We’re just waiting for the Turkish borders to open up to UK citizens so we can go back to our house for a while. I’m not sure whether we’ll get a chance to visit the nearby Greek Islands, but maybe it’s a chance to explore a little bit more of Turkey. There’s so much to see, and we’ve only scratched the surface.
Renata
I’m still indecisive. I’d like to go to Morocco in September, however, I don’t know how the situation will be. An alternative would be Italy. The problem with travelling in Germany is that everybody does it now.
However, I wish you a wonderful summer – despite these obstacles.

Hi Ann, like you, this year I will mostly travel localy which for me means around Ontario, perhaps Quebec. Now is the time to really explore what we have in fron of our house doors and appreciate local gems. I am actually quite looking forward to it 😊
