Greece - Thessaloniki

Would I recommend you to visit Thessaloniki?

So what’s my first impression of the city?
Well, it’s a Greek city that’s not to be compared to either Athens or any of the other smaller cities that we have visited. And to be fair, we didn’t really have the time to see all of the city or experience all that was offered. But would I go back… maybe not. Even though we did have a great weekend, I would rather keep exploring other Greek cities and islands than go back to Thessaloniki. But with that in mind, I would recommend that you visit Thessaloniki, it is a great city!

Let me try and explain the feeling… we are not really city people, and I think it’s that simple. It’s just like when we first visited Krakow in Poland and then visited Warsaw. We really loved our weekend in Krakow, and we kind of liked Warsaw. It’s the big cities that throw us off. It’s not a dislike at all, we like the cities just fine, but we love the smaller places with a quaint feeling.

Thessaloniki has some really old history, and the culture is amazing, so don’t get me wrong – it’s an amazing city and we did have a great weekend. The beautiful areas around the harbor and Ladadika was much to our liking. This feels like I am trying to defend my feeling of not falling head over heels in love with Thessaloniki, but I guess it’s alright not to love every new place you visit. And we are going to keep exploring Greece, we are heading to a (for us) new island in just a few weeks, so our love for Greece still remains the same. There’s no doubt about that. I Love Greece, like Thessaloniki. Was that just a complete word salad or did I make some kind of sense to you?
