Review of 2023
We started the year 2023 with a weekend at our friend’s house on the outskirts of Borås, where we spent New Year’s with great food, wine, and laughter. Quite a good way to start the new year, don’t you think? But other than that, January was spent mostly at home. In late February we went back to Bologna in Italy for the second time. It’s a fantastic city and I don’t think I’m lying when I speak for the both of us, we would love to go back again. March is a busy month for us, workwise, but at the beginning of April, we headed off for a weekend in…

We are back in Bologna
Oh yes, we went back for seconds! Ann & Jacob vs Bologna 2.0! We visted Bologna about 6 months ago, during the crazy heatwave of July 2022. And even though it was superhot we simply loved the city, but we only stayed a few days before we headed of to explore another Italian city. So that’s kind of why we are back, we weren’t quite done… and if I am to be completly honest – Bologna was kind of just a steppingstone for us, and even though we stayed one more night than we initially had planned for, we kind of always had one foot out the door. So, hence…

What differs between a trattoria, osteria, ristorante and enoteca?
I can’t be the only one that got quite confused with the different ways that Italians name the foodie meetups. But lately we have been in Italy quite a few times, so let’s try and break them down in a way that we can all understand it a bit better … here we go! Trattoria: You can expect regional cuisine at a trattoria, quite inexpensive but with a larger menu than the Osteria. Traditionally the Trattorias were family-owned, like rustic neighborhood restaurants. Osteria: Supercheap, kind of like the hostel version of a restaurant with communal-style tables. Originally you brought your own food to an Osteria and only bought your drinks,…

First impression of Bologna
We landed in Bologna, Italy, at the end of July 2022. We only made hotel reservations for the two following nights, but we ended up booking yet another night just cuz two nights were simply not enough in the city. It sure can be enough time, but it wasn’t for us, we wanted more time to explore before we traveled to yet another Italian city. The city was superhot, we managed to hit the sizzling summer heat, so we had a temperature of 29 degrees at nine o clock in the morning. It was crazy hot and super sweaty! But somehow it was still manageable, you find that small alleyway…

Our Italian summer of 2022
Or should I say, our HOT Italian summer? So okay, you all know that we spent some time traveling around Italy this past summer, so I thought I would give you a bit of a run-through of where we started out, how we made up our travel plans, where we ended up, and finally how we got back home to Sweden again. We found a cheap plane ticket from Stockholm to Bologna, where we had booked a hotel for the first two nights. We actually ended up staying an extra night, cuz two days were just simply not enough and we had no time limit to this trip as we…

Review of 2022
The travel year of 2022 has been one of the best in a very long, loooong time. Not just because we weren’t dragged down by all of the strange things that have been happening around the world during the past couple of years, but there’s actually been quite a lot of traveling going on. It’s been a good year, and definitely a great travel year! The beginning of 2022 started with a weekend cruise to Tallinn in Estonia, where we were supposed to see the Christmas market, but it closed the day before we got there. And not that I did not know it before, but now I REALLY know…

We have finally arrived in Bologna
You know the feeling of meeting a lost friend for the first time in forver? You get all warm and fuzzy, almost nervous for no particular reason. Yeah, that’s how I feel about beeing back in Italy! We came in late last night, or rather in the middle of the night, so it was pretty much just check in at our hotel and crash for the night. But after a good night sleep we are ready to start exploring. Well, coffee first, then exploring! Buongiorno!

Plans for the summer of 2022
So here’s the thing, we’ve been kind of going for a while and I thought I would give you a bit of an explanation of what’s been going on… and share our plans for the summer. Firstly, we’ve been traveling just as before, just this year we’ve been to Estonia, Poland, Italy, and Croatia, and there’s more to come. We’ve been updating on our other socials, but not the blog. We have a bunch of trips planned ahead, and I’ll share that with you in a minute but first I just want to get into what’s been going on with the blog. I haven’t been able to update the blog…
